My name is Sam Kingsbury, and my journey with the guitar started when I was just 10 years old. Back then, I was lucky enough to begin taking lessons with Shawn Duchscherer an award-winning, accredited musician from the Buffalo area. Shawn is not only an incredible guitarist but also an amazing mentor who laid the foundation for everything I know today. He now runs Cadence Music in Clarence, NY, where his passion for music continues to inspire countless young musicians like I once was. As I grew, so did my curiosity and hunger to learn. I eventually had the opportunity to study under Mike Gantzer of the nationally touring jam band Aqueous. Learning from someone of Mike’s caliber pushed me to explore creativity, improvisation, and tone on a much deeper level. Between both Shawn and Mike’s influence, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best Western New York has to offer.

Even though I’m currently studying Physical Education at SUNY Brockport, music has always been my parallel path. It’s more than just a hobby it's a true passion that’s shaped how I express myself and connect with others. I may be young, but I’ve got over a decade of guitar experience under my belt. For the past two years, I’ve been actively performing live throughout the Western New York area, from cozy cafes to larger outdoor venues, sharing my sound with anyone willing to listen. Music runs deep in my family. My mom has led worship at church for years, filling our home with soul and spiritual sound. My dad is a devoted concert-goer and a true lover of music. Without their constant encouragement, love, and example, I can confidently say none of this would’ve been possible. Guitar has been my way of telling stories, connecting with people, and exploring emotion and I’m just getting started. Whether I’m teaching a PE lesson during the day or tuning up for a set at night, the guitar is never far from my side. Thanks for reading and stay tuned there’s plenty more music to come.
